Our birds are pets first
At The Inchems, our commitment is simple: our birds are cared for as pets first. They are not merely stock; they are an integral part of our family hobby and our pride and joy. We raise them in small numbers, ensuring each bird receives proper daily care, clean housing, fresh food and water, gentle handling, and plenty of attention. Their health, comfort, and happiness are always our top priority, and we only wish for them to go to homes where they will be loved and looked after properly.
Our diverse and characterful flock
Our flock features a charming mix of beautiful and characterful chickens and ducks, all kept as cherished members of our family hobby. We have a genuine passion for unusual, eye-catching, and friendly breeds, each bringing something unique to The Inchems. Our chickens include delightful USA Silkies, elegant Pekin Bantams, striking Ayam Cemani, regal Aseels, handsome Marans, and captivating Ko Shamo. We also hatch and raise some special crosses, such as our unique USA Silkie x Lavender Pekin. Some are chosen for their rare looks, some for their sweet nature, and some simply because we adore their personality and charm.
Introducing our wonderful ducks
Beyond our cherished chickens, we also keep the magnificent Cayuga ducks, including our stunning Black Cayugas. These ducks are renowned for their striking dark colouring and wonderfully calm character, adding another layer of charm to our beloved flock. All of our birds, whether chickens, ducks, chicks, or ducklings, are kept in small numbers and cared for with unwavering love, attention, and pride. They are, first and foremost, part of our family.
The story behind our name: The Inchems
One of our favourite stories is how The Inchems got its name. One Halloween, our family carved pumpkins, and one had our family name, "The Ingham," carved into it. When we asked our son which pumpkin was his favourite, he affectionately said "The Inchems" – and the name just stuck! Since then, that's who we've been. Our birds have become a treasured part of our family life. Every breed has its own distinct personality, from the fluffy, gentle Silkies and Pekins to the striking Ayam Cemani, bold Aseels, and characterful ducks. We adore observing their unique quirks, watching chicks grow, and helping other hobby keepers discover the same joy. For us, poultry keeping is more than just having birds; it's about family, animals, learning, laughter, and the happiness they bring every single day.
